Sr. Technical Infrastructure Program Manager, Data Center Planning & Delivery

Job :  | Amazon Data Services, Inc.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

You’ll join a diverse team of technical program managers, design engineers, construction managers, network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

We’re seeking an experienced Sr. Technical Infrastructure Program Manager in Herndon, VA, Seattle, WA or Chicago, IL to oversee data center build projects. The Sr. Technical Infrastructure Program Manager will lead cross‑functional and technical teams from conceptual design feasibility through scope and schedule creation, budget management, completed design, implementation, commissioning, and data center deployment. Along the way, you will use your judgment, critical thinking skills, ability to influence without authority, analytical talent, technical aptitude, and leadership to collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders, eliminate non‑value‑add activities, design solutions, remove blockers, and find creative ways to accelerate project delivery.

The successful candidate will be a strong communicator (both written and verbal), not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities, and be capable of understanding mechanical/electrical engineering concepts. They will be able to apply a variety of project management tools, methodologies, and techniques for all phases of the project lifecycle and exhibit demonstrated experience in core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, resources, quality and risk management, reporting and metric development/tracking.

Other requirements include experience with MS Office, MS Project and MS SharePoint. Experience with Tableau, Kanban, Playbook, SQL and systems integration is a plus.

Key job responsibilities:
You will own and deliver end‑to‑end builds. Working with stakeholder teams to map dependencies, create and drive schedules, and think big to solve some of our biggest challenges. This is a high‑judgement role to deliver capacity to our end customers.

Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of program management or technical project management experience
  • Experience with varying scenarios of infrastructure builds
  • Knowledge of best practices and emerging technologies related to infrastructure (i.e. network, data center, hardware, software)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of data center infrastructure design, operations, or delivery
  • Experience in project management in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure
