Global Field Ops Technician, GFO AMER

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a GFO Technician to install and support AWS deployments in non‑traditional environments such as Outposts Services. This role requires a highly motivated Data Center Technician who can maintain the world’s largest cloud computing infrastructure across multiple local and remote locations in the Americas. You will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers to deliver safe, secure, and cost‑effective solutions for our customers.

• Build relationships with internal teams and customers and innovate effective solutions to address issues as they arise.
• Conduct site assessments at various facilities to proactively prepare for on‑site installation of AWS equipment.
• Install, expand, and provision AWS infrastructure at third‑party premises, data centers, and/or non‑traditional environments.
• Troubleshoot network installations and configurations; perform network testing, break/fix, and decommissioning while resolving complex problems.
• Proactively identify and implement strategies that prevent support issues and enhance the customer experience.
• Conduct day‑to‑day business activities both internally and with external customers.
• Travel up to 30% of the time to install, service, and retrieve AWS equipment between locations.
• Physically move heavy equipment (lift up to 18kg individually, up to 30kg in team lifts).
• Lead or participate in developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and tools that improve operational efficiencies.
• Manage larger projects requiring cross‑functional alignment, including large‑DC installations and global business initiatives to support growth.
• Work at height to maintain AWS infrastructure equipment while adhering to AWS health & safety guidelines.
• Maintain a passion for technology and a commitment to continuous improvement.

• Knowledge of fundamentals of networking, security, databases (relational or No
  
  SQL), and operating systems (Unix, Linux, and/or Windows).
• 4+ years of data center engineering or operations experience.
• 2+ years of leading large complex programs experience.

• Certifications:
  
  CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Cisco/CCNA, Linux (Redhat), Microsoft hardware (installation), AWS, or other industry relevant certifications.
• Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of relevant technical experience.
• Experience working in a customer‑facing environment.
• Experience in data center, networking engineering, systems engineering, or construction management with a strong understanding of data center technologies such as power, cooling, and controls systems.
• Experience with network operating systems such as Cisco IOS and Junos.

Base salary range: $32.00 – $57.00 USD hourly. Your Amazon package includes sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation is based on experience, qualifications, and location.
