Job : | Amazon Data Services, Inc.
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain, and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
We are looking for someone who embraces the forefront of new, non-traditional data center deployment activities, operates in a highly ambiguous environment, drives long‑range business growth in support of an evolving business strategy, and works across teams to solve challenges and remove obstacles. If this sounds like you, read on.
Key Responsibilities- Lead development and execution of regional capacity scaling strategies for multiple non‑standard infrastructure programs.
- Work with regional capacity delivery teams to plan deployment and scaling activities.
- Coordinate project activities with other relevant projects to gain cost and execution efficiencies.
- Solve problems and remove blockers to timely capacity delivery.
- Identify opportunities to invent and simplify processes, identifying business risks and implementing resolutions and scalable mechanisms.
- Communicate ideas to a wide variety of stakeholders, from informative briefings to executive approvals.
- Determine process health metrics and key performance indicators and develop data‑visualization reports illustrating process health.
- Develop and implement scalable, data‑driven process improvements.
- Develop standard operating procedures, change/communication plans, and project/program‑level status updates.
- Drive adoption with internal stakeholders through effective change management.
- Keep the customer experience as the primary focus.
It’s typically a varied day. You will engage with local project teams to plan, execute, and monitor build projects; work with finance and procurement teams to fund and purchase equipment and materials; look downstream to identify risks to schedule and cost; collaborate with partner teams to identify opportunities to deliver capacity better, faster, and cheaper without diminishing quality or increasing schedule risk;
and work with customer teams to plan more effectively for the future.
- 3+ years of technical infrastructure management experience.
- Knowledge of best practices and emerging technologies related to infrastructure (network, data center, hardware, software).
- Experience with varying scenarios of infrastructure builds.
