Description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

Role Overview

The AWS Non-Standard Infrastructure Global Delivery Team has an immediate opening for a Sr. Technical Infrastructure Program Manager to drive non‑standard infrastructure capacity delivery around the world. You will lead cross‑functional teams to drive the development and implementation of non‑standard infrastructure designs, develop and document requirements, budgets, and project schedules to drive timely infrastructure delivery, and make data‑driven decisions that influence large capital investments.

Your role spans long‑range planning for complex, multi‑year capacity delivery and capital improvement initiatives; working with local teams to plan, initiate, and execute specific projects; and driving coordination of local efforts to implement global fleet optimization activities. You will work across the entire AWS organization and partner with key stakeholders and partner teams to find solutions for both short‑ and long‑range demand plans, address short‑ and long‑term capacity constraints, and drive projects from conceptual feasibility through development of detailed technical requirements, budget approval, completed design, implementation, functional testing, and deployment.

Up to 15% domestic and international travel may be necessary to support AWS non‑standard infrastructure planning and scaling efforts.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Lead development and execution of regional capacity scaling strategies for multiple non‑standard infrastructure programs
  • Work with regional capacity delivery teams to plan deployment and scaling activities
  • Coordinate project activities with other relevant projects to gain both cost and execution efficiencies
  • Solve problems and remove blockers to timely capacity delivery
  • Identify opportunities to invent and simplify processes, identifying business risks and implementing resolutions and scalable mechanisms
  • Communicate ideas to a wide variety of stakeholders for purposes ranging from informative to need for approvals from executives
  • Determine process health metrics and key performance indicators and develop data visualization reports illustrating process health
  • Develop and implement scalable, data‑driven process improvements
  • Develop standard operating procedures, change/communication plans, and project/program‑level status updates
  • Drive adoption with internal stakeholders through effective change management
  • Keep the customer experience as the primary focus
A Day in the Life

It’s typically a different day‑to‑day, but generally you will engage with local project teams to plan, execute, and monitor build projects; work with finance and procurement teams to fund and purchase equipment and materials; look downstream to identify risks to schedule and cost; work with partner teams to identify opportunities to deliver capacity better, faster, cheaper without diminishing quality or increasing schedule risk;

and work with customer teams to plan more effectively for the future.
