Our teams solve complex, mission-critical challenges using modern cloud technologies, high-performance computing, and secure software development practices. We are seeking talented and motivated Dev Sec Ops Engineers to support a Large (10+ PB) cloud compute environment that enables large-scale data processing and analytics for thousands of users across multiple mission systems.
You will join a highly collaborative team responsible for designing, deploying, automating, securing, and sustaining cloud-native infrastructure and Dev Sec Ops pipelines within a large Open Stack-based private cloud environment. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside software developers, systems engineers, cybersecurity professionals, and government stakeholders to build scalable, reliable, and secure platforms supporting national security missions. A significant portion of this position will be performed on-site at a government facility in Herndon, VA.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain highly available infrastructure supporting Large (10+ PB) cloud compute environments.
- Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Git Lab, Jenkins, or similar tools to automate software integration, testing, and deployment.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or similar technologies.
- Install, configure, administer, and optimize Open Stack, Kubernetes, Spark, Hadoop, Docker, and other cloud-native technologies.
- Develop automation using Python, Bash, Go, Java, or similar scripting and programming languages.
- Manage Linux-based infrastructure, including system administration, patching, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Deploy and support containerized applications using Kubernetes and Docker while maintaining secure, scalable environments.
- Implement system upgrades, automation, and platform enhancements while ensuring compliance with government cybersecurity requirements.
- Monitor system health, logging, and performance to proactively identify and resolve infrastructure issues.
- Integrate security tools and automated security testing into Dev Sec Ops workflows.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to remediate vulnerabilities, implement STIG requirements, and support Authority to Operate (ATO) activities.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure, networking, automation, and deployment issues across development, testing, and production environments.
- Build internal tools, dashboards, and automation that improve developer productivity and operational efficiency.
- Participate in Agile development activities including sprint planning, code reviews, and continuous process improvement.
- Work closely with technical leadership, software developers, systems engineers, and government stakeholders to deliver secure, mission-focused capabilities.
- Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to infrastructure, automation, and security practices.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of:
- 8 years of relevant experience, or
- 6 years with a Master's degree, or
- 3 years with a PhD.
- Experience supporting Linux/Unix environments and system administration.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Open Stack, AWS, Azure, or similar technologies.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerized application deployments.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Git Lab, Jenkins, Azure Dev Ops, or similar platforms.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
- Strong scripting or programming experience in Python, Bash, Go, Java, C#, or similar languages.
- Experience using Git or other source control systems.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals, DNS, load balancing, and cloud infrastructure.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced technical environment.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving mission requirements.
- Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
- CI Polygraph or willingness to obtain one.
- Experience supporting Large (10+ PB) cloud compute environments.
- Experience with Spark, Hadoop, Nomad, or other distributed computing platforms.
