Biomedical research is in the midst of unprecedented transformation through the enablement of digital labs, the democratization of data, the protection of patient identity, and the increasing need for innovative computational resources.

The research community is investing heavily in biomedical cloud platforms to power this transformation. AWS is seeking an experienced and self-starter Sr. Account Manager to drive adoption for AWS services in the Federal Civilian Health practice supporting engagements within the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H). Successful candidates will leverage the richness of the AWS cloud computing platform to drive the right technology solutions, enable the technology ecosystem supporting biomedical research, and address changing industry needs.

Your responsibilities will include engaging with key industry customers and strategic industry partners, attending and speaking at industry events, leading the process to help drive industry solutions that create significant new business opportunities for AWS. You will work closely with AWS Solutions Architects, service teams and senior engineers at both top software vendors and partners to develop and promote cloud based solutions for the biomedical research industry.

Candidates must have great communication skills and be very technical, with the ability to interact with AWS customers at any level, from executive, to clinician, to developer. Domain experience in the biomedical research industry is essential. The ideal candidate will have experience working with biomedical research customers at the CxO/VP level, with a good understanding of legacy and emerging technologies in the biomedical research industry.

The candidate should have a demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically about business, product, and technical challenges, with the ability to build and convey compelling value propositions, and work cross-organizationally to build consensus. Additionally, the candidate should have hands-on experience designing and building large-scale systems architectures that support medical imaging, genomics, big data management, data science, and data analytics for a biomedical research enterprise.

Key job responsibilities

• Serve as a key member of the AWS Fed Health team to drive overall AWS market and service enablement strategy for the biomedical research industry.
• Define and execute on a strategic market development plan and ensure it's in line with the AWS strategic direction, in partnership with key internal stakeholders (e.g. service teams, marketing, partner team, legal, support, etc.).
• Define and size segments, identify and engage key customers, and identify and engage key partners including ISVs and system integrators.
• Support healthy pipeline creation by engaging with key prospects and partners.
• Understand the technical requirements of our customers and work closely with the internal development teams to guide the direction of our product offerings for the biomedical research industry.
• Present business reviews to the senior management team regarding progress and roadblocks to expanding our reach in the industry.
• Handle a high volume of engagements and interactions in the fast pace of the cloud computing market.

Basic qualifications

• 10+ years of broad biomedical research domain knowledge including clinical, genomics, imaging, and analytical applications and technology.
• 5+ years of relevant technical skills with the ability to dive deep on relevant technologies key to the industry.
• Experience working with the NIH and ARPA-H

Preferred qualifications

• 15+ years of relevant work experience.
• CxO relationships and large network in the industry.
