Responsibilities
Peraton is hiring
Lead Associate Digital Architecture & Modeling Engineers to help modernize the FAA's National Airspace System (NAS) under the BNATCS program. This role unifies Enterprise Architecture, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and Modeling, Analysis & Simulation (MA&S) into a single model-centric discipline.
You'll contribute to the
Digital Engineering Environment (DEE) an authoritative model that ties mission needs, operational concepts, requirements, capabilities, systems, interfaces, infrastructure, and verification evidence together. Architecture views, CONOPS content, interface descriptions, and analyses are generated from the model rather than authored as separate documents.
This is a growth-oriented position. You'll model in Cameo / Magic Draw using SysML and UAF, run analysis against the model, and translate results for FAA leadership, program offices, and engineers — under the mentorship of senior architects.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the Digital Engineering Environment (DEE), modeling current-, transition-, and target-state NAS architectures.
- Apply UAF, SysML, DoDAF, and MBSE practices in Cameo / Magic Draw and Teamwork Cloud to model capabilities, systems, services, interfaces, information exchanges, and infrastructure.
- Support model-based CONOPS, mission threads, and operational scenarios as authoritative model elements.
- Generate DoDAF / UAF views, interface descriptions, matrices, and reports from the model using standardized queries and templates.
- Perform architecture analysis to identify dependencies, gaps, interface conflicts, integration risks, and mission impacts.
- Support model-based trade studies and analyses of alternatives.
- Contribute to reusable model libraries, modeling conventions, and model governance(baselines, version control, validation rules, quality checks).
- Support integration with requirements-management tooling (e.g., Jama Connect or DOORS) to maintain traceability from needs → architecture → verification.
- Support Architecture Review Boards with model-based evidence.
- Produce technical writing, documentation, and records deliverables generated from or aligned to the model.
- Collaborate across cybersecurity, software, cloud, telecom, data, test, CM, safety, and program teams.
- Translate model-derived analysis into clear mission and business impacts for technical and executive audiences.
- Publish model content through Cameo Collaborator, the DEE Digital Command Center, dashboards, and reports.
- Apply AI-assisted engineering techniques where appropriate, with human oversight.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years with BS/BA; 9 years in lieu of a degree
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise architecture, systems engineering, MBSE, modeling & simulation, or a closely related engineering discipline.
- 2+ years of aviation, FAA, DoD, or comparable mission-critical / safety-critical domain experience (roles may include systems engineering, air traffic management, piloting, aviation operations / safety / risk, or federal program support).
- Working proficiency modeling in Cameo / Magic Draw(or equivalent Cameo Systems Modeler tooling) using SysML and UAF.
- Working knowledge of DoDAF, UAF, and SysML.
- Basic understanding of requirements engineering and the requirements → architecture → verification lifecycle.
- Familiarity with modern enterprise technology concepts (networking, cybersecurity, data, cloud, distributed systems).
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite; working familiarity with the Business Intelligence Platforms(e.g. Microsoft Power BI, Power Automate, or Power Apps) or a comparable reporting / automation toolset.
- Strong technical writing, editing, and stakeholder-communication skills.
- Records and documentation management…
