Our client — a UK-founded Defence AI company expanding its US engineering capability — is hiring a Senior / Staff Platform Engineer (Virginia / Remote).

They’re building sovereign AI infrastructure used across Defence, Security and national-security environments, combining modern AI with secure cloud, classified deployments, data assurance and real-world operational constraints.

• Own and improve production Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure
• Build infrastructure-as-code and repeatable deployment patterns using Terraform, Open Tofu, Pulumi or similar
• Deploy AI platforms into US Government, Gov Cloud and high-security environments
• Solve complex security, reliability and operational challenges across customer deployments
• Translate an established platform into US Government infrastructure and accreditation requirements
• Remain deeply hands-on while becoming a senior technical reference point as the US engineering team grows

• $140,000 – $200,000 base + up to 25% annual bonus
• Work across Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, secure deployments and AI systems
• Build technology deployed into real Defence and national-security environments
• Small, autonomous, high-ownership engineering team
• Primarily remote — Virginia-based strongly preferred, with the ability to reach Herndon when required
• US citizenship required + eligibility to obtain security clearance
