Job Summary
EMCOR Government Services seeks an Area Manager (AM) to lead our contract Janitorial Services, supporting a major customer in the intelligence community located in Herndon, VA
. The AM leads a team of dedicated professionals in delivering a wide range of Janitorial support services. The Area Manager serves as the primary point of contact for Property Management for day-to-day operational issues, provides schedules of all periodic cleaning, inspects the premises regularly, investigates tenant complaints, meets with tenant representatives when requested, reports items needing repair or maintenance, and generally supervises the entire cleaning of the premises.
The AM ensures all janitorial staff report any repairs or unsafe conditions and reports these to Property Management in an agreed manner. This position is contingent upon contract award.
- Responsible for scheduling, training, assigning work, evaluating, and documenting employee performance.
- Maintain accurate records, ensuring all employees clock in/out.
- Serve as the site’s QC Manager along with Supervisors/Leads.
- Send out reports and all necessary deliverables.
- Organize and supervise ongoing operations.
- Keep all equipment clean and maintained.
- Maintain a working knowledge of cleaning methods set forward by EGS.
- Keep the office and supply closets clean and well‑organized.
- Complete all required paperwork and site reporting daily.
- Take immediate action on client complaints, reporting problems to the Area Manager.
- Reallocate personnel as required to cover absenteeism; wear/use all safety equipment provided by EGS.
- Attend all training required by EGS.
- Perform other duties as directed by Management.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of cleaning products and services.
- Ability to work with and around chemicals and dust.
- Ability to work as part of a team and take directions from Management.
- Two or more years of equivalent experience preferred.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an ISSA TS/SCI with poly.
- Walking and standing; climbing.
- Bending forward; wearing hip/backpack vacuum.
- Reaching, grasping, pushing, and pulling.
- Lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds, sometimes over the shoulder.
