As the Chief Financial Officer, you will report directly to the Country Chief Executive Officer and LII APAC Chief Financial Officer. You will play a pivotal role in strengthening Liberty’s financial strategy and long-term sustainability. As the steward of financial governance, you will guide the organization through its next phase of growth, ensuring strong alignment with regulatory expectations and industry best practices.
You will strengthen Liberty’s financial position across Malaysia as well as support the broader OneAPAC transformation, with a clear focus on capital management, solvency, and driving sustainable profitability reflected in improved PTOI performance. A key priority will be redesigning the finance function’s target operating model, overseeing the wider team in the organization to enhance structure, capability and operational effectiveness. This role will be instrumental in sharpening financial insight, improving returns in Malaysia, and ensuring Liberty maintains the integrity, transparency and resilience needed to compete and grow in a rapidly evolving insurance landscape.
You will lead a high-performing core finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Lead the management of financial risks including credit, liquidity, market, and operational risks, with an emphasis on integrating climate-related risks (investments)
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of all regulatory reporting, in compliance with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) guidelines.
- Drive the annual business planning and budgeting process, ensuring alignment with the overall corporate strategy and financial sustainability.
- Formulate and execute a financial strategy that supports long-term growth and resilience.
- Champion best practices in financial management and data analytics to enhance decision-making.
- Collaborate with the CEO on business performance and strategic direction, ensuring financial insights are integral to decision-making.
- Ensure comprehensive financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders, emphasizing transparency and accountability.
- Develop and maintain a robust data governance framework to facilitate cohesive business reporting and analytics.
- Evaluate the financial impact and return on investment (ROI) of strategic initiatives.
- Ensure effective and efficient financial and operational management across all support functions, adhering to established procedures and controls.
- Establish and enforce policies and procedures that balance customer focus with financial accountability.
- Ensure alignment with enterprise risk management guidelines
- Ensure full compliance with relevant regulations, laws, and corporate governance standards, including BNM’s Policy Documents.
- Develop a high-performing finance team by attracting, retaining, and nurturing talent. Foster a culture of continuous learning and adaptability to future skill needs.
- Ensure effective succession plan in place for key positions

- At least 10 years of senior management experience and relevant industry experience with strong academic background and professional qualifications.
- Excellent knowledge of accounting standards, financial analysis, risk management, and forecasting methods.
- Deep understanding of business, strategic thinking, and leadership capabilities and a solid grounding in risk management, regulatory compliance, and business planning.
- Demonstrated success in leading large-scale compliance and operational initiatives, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy and regulatory requirements.
- Deep understanding and proven expertise within the insurance sector.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, tailored to varied stakeholders including regulators, board members, and employees.
