Job Summary
As a Data Center Engineering Technician, you will be a frontline guardian of Amazon’s mission‑critical technical infrastructure. Your role will involve maintaining, operating, and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical equipment to sustain an extraordinary 99.999% uptime across AWS data centers worldwide.
Key Responsibilities- Daily building rounds to monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment.
- Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS).
- Troubleshoot facility and rack‑level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).
- Perform rack installations and decommissioning within internal SLA.
- Execute preventive maintenance, root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Produce technical writing to support the change management program.
- Manage daily work requests through resolution and execute projects from conception to completion.
- Provide on‑site support for contractors, sub‑contractors, and vendors, ensuring all work follows established practices, procedures, and local legislation.
- Adapt to shift work that may include up to 12‑hour rotations and on‑call duties; capacity to support more than one location/site.
- Willingness and demonstrated ability to work in physical conditions with reasonable accommodations.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 39 pounds independently.
- Participate in group lifts for 40+ pounds.
- Maintain balance while performing construction tasks on a ladder.
- Perform tasks involving walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing stairs, twisting, bending, working above shoulders, grasping, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects.
- Wear ear protection as required.
- Ability to travel or commute between data center locations as needed.
- Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training periods or until assigned facility is operational.
- Travel frequency will vary based on business needs and operational status of the assigned facility.
- 2+ years of data center engineering experience.
- Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings.
- Vocational/technical training, an associate degree or above, or 4+ years of military experience.

Base Salary: 37.00 – 65.00 USD hourly (USA, VA, Herndon). The compensation package includes sign‑on payments, restricted stock units (RSUs), and benefits such as health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave. Learn more about our benefits at .
