Engineering Operation Technician

Join our dynamic team as a Data Center Engineering Technician. In this role you will be the primary guardian of our mission‑critical technology infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations that power global digital experiences and maintain an extraordinary 99.999% uptime.

• Daily building rounds to monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, fire/life safety, and cooling equipment to ensure 24/7 reliability and availability.
• Monitor and operate mission critical liquid cooling infrastructure.
• Conduct glycol concentration testing and adjustments.
• Operate and maintain water distribution systems, including water chemistry, pumps and piping networks.
• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair of liquid cooling systems.
• Produce technical writing to support the change management program.
• Monitor daily work requests, manage to resolution, and execute projects from conception to completion.
• Provide on‑site support of contractors, sub‑contractors and vendors, ensuring all work performed follows established practices, procedures and local legislation.
• Adapt to work schedule changes – shifts are usually 12 hours and may rotate. Be prepared for on‑call rotations and willingness to work holidays and weekends as required.

• Travel frequency will vary based on business needs and operational status of the assigned facility.
• Candidates must be able to travel over 50 miles or commute less than 50 miles to active data center sites as required.

This role is Amazon’s front line for hands‑on electrical and mechanical equipment preventive maintenance and troubleshooting. The day includes maintaining and operating mission‑critical data center equipment such as stand‑by diesel generators, fuel systems, 3‑phase electrical systems (switch gear, UPS, PDUs, wet cell batteries), and mechanical equipment (CRAHU units, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, water systems, air handlers, pumps and motors). Additional support equipment such as fire/life safety devices, building automation systems and general facilities equipment are also within scope.

You will join a diverse team of software, hardware and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers and other vital roles. The team collaborates across AWS to deliver the highest safety and security standards while providing sustainable capacity at the lowest cost to our customers.

• Minimum 2 years of experience with Microsoft Office products and applications.
• Minimum 2 years of electrical and mechanical experience.
• Ability to work on a flexible schedule including days, nights, and/or weekends.

• Experience working in a data center or other mission‑critical facility (e.g., hospital, military, public safety).
• Associate or higher education in a related field.
• Experience with reading, writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings.

The base salary range for this position is 37.00 – 65.00 USD hourly. The Amazon package will include sign‑on payments, restricted stock units, and comprehensive benefits including health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
