Registered Nurse Emergency Department

Overview

As a Registered Nurse Emergency Department, your voice to influence patient care is valued and empowered at every turn—through open, collaborative relationships with your direct manager or more formal opportunities through hospital councils and national nursing initiatives. You ll help shape decisions that elevate both patient outcomes and the future of nursing.

• Coordinate and deliver high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty.
• Collaborate with medical providers and other members of the care team to provide individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.”
• Serve as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and model a commitment to the organization s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes.
• Assess patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s).
• Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate patient needs to resolve them proactively.
• Educate patients/families/caregivers about the patient s medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures; translate complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
• Teach patients/families/caregivers about non-medicinal follow-up measures such as healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and other lifestyle changes; prepare patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date
• (RN) Registered Nurse
• Registered Nurse Diploma
• 12 hour night position
• Must have ED experience
