Overview
Ortho Virginia, Virginia’s largest provider of musculoskeletal care, is seeking an experienced Operating Room (OR) Manager to lead our perioperative services team in delivering safe, efficient, and exceptional surgical care. The role requires a proven leader who can shape the future of orthopedic surgical care by driving operational excellence, championing clinical quality, and fostering a culture where patients, physicians, and team members thrive.
Responsibilities- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop Registered Nurses, Surgical Technologists, Sterile Processing, Materials Management, and perioperative support staff.
- Recruit, onboard, evaluate, and support ongoing professional growth of team members.
- Manage staffing support based on licensure and operational requirements.
- Direct daily operations of the operating room and perioperative services, including surgical scheduling, equipment, instrumentation, implants, and supplies.
- Partner with Sterile Processing and Materials Management to ensure efficient case flow and on‑time starts.
- Monitor daily operations and proactively resolve scheduling or workflow challenges.
- Ensure delivery of safe, patient‑ and family‑centered care in compliance with AORN standards, AAAHC accreditation requirements, OSHA regulations, and organizational policies.
- Promote evidence‑based practice and support continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Serve as a primary liaison between physicians, hospital leadership, and perioperative teams to improve communication and patient outcomes.
- Lead change initiatives that enhance workflow, efficiency, and the overall surgical experience.

- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Minimum of five years of leadership or supervisory experience in a perioperative or surgical services environment.
- Minimum of two years of operating room or perioperative clinical experience.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams in an orthopedic, ambulatory surgery center (ASC), or hospital setting preferred.
- Knowledge of AORN, AAAHC, CMS, and other applicable regulatory standards preferred.
- Experience driving quality improvement and operational excellence initiatives preferred.
- Current licensure or certification as a Registered Nurse (RN), Surgical Technologist (ST), or Surgical Assistant (SA).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required for RN candidates.
- CNOR or other perioperative specialty certification preferred.
