About This RoleAs a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Blackbird Health, you’ll play an essential role in delivering comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, treatment planning, and medication management for children, adolescents, and young adults. You’ll build meaningful connections with patients to support their engagement in treatment, spending the necessary time with patients and families to understand their needs, educate them about care options, and provide ongoing support.
We’re seeking dedicated clinicians to join our Sterling, VA team to provide hybrid services to children, adolescents, and young adults ages 2–26, as well as the caregivers who support them. Multiple employment tracks are available: you’ll select your preferred arrangement in the application.
Employment Options- 1099 Contractor Track
- Pay: $120–$140 per session
- Commitment: Minimum 10 hours per week.
- Hours: Shift availability focused during our peak “after‑school hours” (defined as after 3:00 PM ET weekdays and/or weekends).
- W2 Part‑Time Track
- Salary Range: $72,500 base salary + $100 per hour for any additional clinical hours worked beyond the agreed schedule.
- Commitment: 20 hours per week (inclusive of 17 direct care hours).
- Hours: Shift availability must target peak “after‑school hours” (defined as after 3:00 PM ET weekdays and/or weekends).
- Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, and generous PTO + 11 holidays.
- W2 Full‑Time Track
- Salary Range: $135,000–$145,000 USD base salary
- Commitment: 40 hours per week. Shift availability includes a minimum of 15 peak hours scheduled after 3:00 PM ET weekdays and/or weekends.

- Clinically Excellent: You have experience working with children and adolescents as a psychiatric nurse practitioner and have practiced independently at the top of your scope for at least one year under licensure. You bring clinical expertise with a warm, patient‑centered approach.

- Provide Comprehensive Psychiatric Care: Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, assessments, and diagnoses for children, adolescents, and young adults. Develop personalized treatment plans and provide medication management that addresses the unique needs of each patient.
- Build Meaningful Therapeutic Relationships: Spend the necessary time with patients and families to truly understand their experiences, educate them about treatment options, and provide ongoing support. Build connection and trust that keeps patients engaged in their care journey.
- Drive Patient Progress & Safety: Monitor patient progress against care goals, adjusting treatment plans as needed to ensure positive outcomes. Take the necessary steps to keep patients safe, intervening proactively when concerns arise.
