The Service Technician is responsible for managing all aspects of access control and IP camera products and systems installed at client sites. The Service Technician must independently install, program, troubleshoot, and maintain electronic devices, power supplies, and network components. They communicate effectively with the Field Supervisor and present a knowledgeable, engaging image to customers. The Service Technician must be a self‑starter who can make sound decisions in the best interest of the project, the customer, and Unlimited Technology.
They must also learn UT’s device monitoring/management methodologies.
- Install and service Access Control and IP camera systems according to engineered drawings.
- Program, terminate, and commission a wide range of Access Control products and platforms.
- Identify and resolve issues that negatively impact job productivity.
- Complete all necessary paperwork related to job tickets.
- Maintain a safe, clean working environment at all times.
- Communicate all activity to the Project Manager or Field Supervisor in a timely manner.
- Assist Level I technicians when needed.
- Maintain the condition and cleanliness of any company‑provided vehicle.
- Maintain a safe driving record and report any incidents or near misses to management immediately.
- Attend any required product or safety training.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Mastery of all installation and service responsibilities for technicians.
- Minimum 3–5 years of field installation experience in a security environment.
- Certifications in Lenel/Software House access control.
- Certifications in American Dynamics, Genetec, Exacq preferred.
- Experience installing door hardware such as strikes and magnetic locks.
- Experience with DMP, Bosch, DSC, or Honeywell intrusion systems.
- Experience troubleshooting network switches.
- Proficient in reading and comprehending engineered drawings.
- Proficient in marking up, or “red lining,” drawings post‑install.
- Proficient with MS Word and MS Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong work ethic, teamwork, and a “can‑do” attitude.
- Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
