Role Description

The Maintenance Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Herndon, VA, responsible for maintaining the safety, functionality, and appearance of residential and/or commercial properties. Daily responsibilities include performing routine inspections, diagnosing and repairing building systems, equipment, and units, and completing work orders in a timely and professional manner. The role involves conducting preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, as well as addressing issues related to lighting, appliances, and general building infrastructure.

The Maintenance Technician will respond to resident or tenant service requests, support emergency repairs, assist with turnover of units, and help maintain common areas, grounds, and amenities. This position collaborates closely with property management and other maintenance team members to ensure high-quality, responsive service and compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess strong skills in Equipment Maintenance and Industrial Maintenance to support building systems, common areas, and amenities.
  • Candidates should possess solid Troubleshooting and Maintenance & Repair abilities to diagnose issues and perform effective, timely repairs.
  • Candidates should possess experience with Preventive Maintenance to reduce equipment downtime and extend the life of building components and systems.
  • Relevant skills such as basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC support are beneficial.
  • Ability to read work orders and maintenance manuals, use hand and power tools safely, and follow established safety procedures.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and time management skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Prior experience in property or facilities maintenance and a valid driver’s license are preferred; relevant technical certifications are a plus.
