Job Overview

Peraton is seeking an experienced Test Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.

We are seeking a highly motivated person who independently develops and executes test scripts to ensure that quality software is provided for release to production and to certify system changes. Produces expert level test plan documents and requirements. Develops test control databases. Performs solution testing confirming business requirements. Maintains test databases and ensures their integrity and currency. Distributes test data from control database to development staff to satisfy adequate unit testing.

Develops, compiles, documents, and runs automated test scripts and test procedures. Runs regression tests. Tracks status of defects. Provides quality assurance testing for all systems to ensure the development and distribution of quality products. Assists with roll‑out of systems documentation. Produces lists of defects that are to be resolved and incorporated into future releases of the application as required. Communicates with analysts and programmers about formal testing plans, problems, and results.

Develops technical documentation and reports. Manages the release management process for all changes to the baseline IT infrastructure. Ensures all processes are adhered to appropriately throughout project life cycles. Ensures all existing processes are fully documented, suggesting improvements, updating documentation, and communicating all process changes to relevant stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding and experience with Software Development Life Cycle and Data Management. He/she will work collaboratively with all entities involved in the project, other testers, developers, program leadership, business analysts, and the client.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Utilize technical skills to develop test plans, test cases/scripts, test automation.
  • Execute test cases and document test execution artifacts.
  • Develop, implement, and track project metrics to report testing status.
  • Reviews and validates requirements and technical specifications.
  • Collaborates with the development team on bug fix verification and validation.
  • Understand the use cases and business rules related to the system developed to communicate effectively with the client, stakeholders, and engineers.
  • Develop and execute test cases for Section 508 compliance.
  • Perform basic database queries to validate backend expected results.
  • Manage test assignments and results through JIRA.
  • Work within an Agile process through Sprint planning/close, and scrum meetings.
  • Prepare material for customer meetings as required.
  • Provide input for project decisions and risks.
  • Provide support for production outages, and product deployments.
  • Provide test planning and execution estimates for new development activities.
  • Effectively communicate to other team members information regarding code defects, code releases, requirements, acceptance criteria and environments status and needs.

Qualifications
  • 8 years of experience with BS/BA; 6 years of experience with MS/MA; 3 years of experience with PhD.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance.
  • Great customer relationship building and people skills.
  • Strong software testing experience.
  • Working experience with Jira, SCRUM, Selenium (and/or other automation framework experiences).
  • Expertise in Agile principles.
Desired Qualifications
  • Active Public Trust Security Clearance or higher.
  • Experience working in a deadline‑driven environment, handling and prioritizing multiple tasks.
  • Works under general direction, independently determines and develops approach to solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively across all levels of staff and management.
  • Advanced level knowledge of Jira, SQL, MS Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio.
  • Experience in System Architecture & Design.
  • Familiarity with government environments and standards is desired.
  • Experience with Cloud and Dev Ops principles is a plus.
