The Boeing Company is looking for a Lead Software Engineer – Developer to join the Advanced Ground Architecture (AGA) team located in Herndon, Virginia;
Colorado Springs, Colorado;
Seal Beach, California; and El Segundo, California. This position focuses on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization.

Position Responsibilities
  • Oversight of design, development, testing, and maintenance of non‑embedded software throughout the end‑to‑end lifecycle.
  • Review, analysis, and translation of customer requirements into initial design of software products.
  • Review of development, maintenance, enhancement, and optimization of software products and functionalities for system integrations.
  • Oversight of development, documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software products.
  • Debugging and resolution of issues identified to ensure reliability and efficiency of software products.
  • Research and implementation of current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks and changes in regulations relevant to software development.
  • Leadership of development, establishment, monitoring and improvement of software processes, tools and key performance metrics that align projects with organizational goals and industry benchmarks.
  • Review of planning, execution and documentation of software research and development projects.
  • Consultation on software domains, system‑specific issues, processes and regulations.
  • Oversight of software project management activities and supplier management functions.
  • Tracking and evaluation of software team and supplier performance to ensure compliance to project plans and industry standards.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance required.
  • 14 years of experience in Java and React

    JS.
  • 14 years of experience in Windows‑based IDEs and Linux‑based IDEs.
  • 14 years of experience in software configuration management tools (e.g., Git) and problem/issue tracking tools (e.g., Jira).
  • 14 years of experience in developing software products in a cloud environment using Agile Methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in an accredited engineering, technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science program with 14+ years of related work experience, or a bachelor’s degree with 18+ years of directly related work experience.
  • Knowledge of specification format requirements, guidelines, and change control processes, and understanding of the relationship between specifications/standards and aircraft/product certification systems.
  • Knowledge of host environments, processors, operating systems and networks; ability to build, integrate and troubleshoot software components.
  • Knowledge of programming languages and databases applicable to the software domain, including higher‑order, auto‑coded and assembly languages.
  • Knowledge of requirement derivation and allocation processes and traceability across the product lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of software architecture and design methodologies and ability to synthesize architectures that meet requirements and constraints.
  • Knowledge of software development processes in compliance with internal and industry standards, guidelines, and best practices for development, testing and deployment.
  • Knowledge of general software development and testing tools, including compilers, linkers, debuggers, data analysis tools, GUI builders, post‑processing tools, requirements management tools and web authoring tools.
  • Knowledge of domains, characteristics, constraints and products that require software and influence architecture, requirements, interfaces, designs and integration/test approaches.
  • Knowledge of implementation, validation and verification processes and guidelines to ensure software quality, performance and safety.
Travel

Occasional travel may be required (less than 10%).
