Herndon, VA. Amazon Foundational Security Services (AFSS) seeks a Software Development Engineer (SDE) to design and build services that solve complex problems across the AWS cloud. The role involves building highly scalable, available services, mentoring team members, and contributing to security solutions used company‑wide.

• Design and develop end‑to‑end, highly scalable, secure services using cloud‑native and containerized technologies.
• Create prototypes and deliver solutions from concept to production, ensuring simple solutions for complex problems.
• Conduct timely code reviews, mentor and coach other engineers.
• Collaborate with team members to identify process improvements, define and communicate best practices.

• 3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture experience for new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, scalability).
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience (coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, operations).
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

The base salary range for this position is $143,700 – $194,400 USD annually. Compensation includes sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs) and will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
