Software Engineer
Job Description
The Lead RF Software Engineer performs the following technical tasks as a leader in the Airborne Sensing (ABS) Group (75% to 80% of the time):
Takes a lead role in developing the software to bring RF, Wireless, SIGINT, ELINT, and/or Electronic Warfare solution designs to fruition, drawing from experience with:
Implementing real time DSP algorithms for modulation/demodulation, filtering, channelization, detection, and estimation.
Implementing and testing ultra‑time‑sensitive location estimations, and event‑driven frameworks.
Authoring low‑level code to maximize efficiency and keep runtimes manageable.
Developing algorithms for signal detection, classification, geolocation, and parameter estimation (e.g., frequency, bandwidth, modulation type, direction of arrival).
Implementing feature extraction, time–frequency analysis, and spectral analysis pipelines.
Integrating machine learning or statistical techniques for signal identification, anomaly detection, and emitter recognition.
Designing schemas and APIs to store, query, and serve RF‑derived metadata to downstream systems.
Designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for complex signal processing and RF applications.
Using containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Podman) and orchestration frameworks (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker Swarm) to deploy scalable, high‑performance RF/DSP services.
Reviewing and approving the code developed by subordinates for merging into the appropriate product baseline.
Leading efforts for the adoption of standards, processes, procedures, and tools appropriate for the projects and technologies our team supports.
Collaborating and coordinating with external and internal customers and partners – building collaborative relationships through effective communications and outreach.
Demonstrating an entrepreneurial/strategic mindset – wanting to be part of improving and growing a business.
The Lead RF Software Engineer also performs the following leadership activities (20 to 25% of the time):
Serves as the Technical Lead for multiple interwoven programs to provide software‑based prototype capabilities to the war fighter.
Provides oversight for design, development, documentation, and testing of complex tactical and national software systems from concept development through transition to operations.
Provides technical leadership for both Parsons and subcontractor team members with an eye toward providing the best solution and capabilities on schedule to our customers for transition to operations.
Analyzes data from operational data flows to provide recommendations for refinement to improve capability utilization and trade‑space analysis for higher priority solutions.
Provides functional management of the Airborne Sensing Software and DSP development team to include, but not limited to, timekeeping approvals, goal setting, conducting performance reviews, and providing professional mentorship.
Participates in solutions for new programs, proposals, and pre‑proposal efforts to develop concepts and mission requirements into viable system architectures for successful proposals and program execution (as‑needed basis).
Assists the ABS Product Manager and Business Area Lead with the development of technical roadmaps and strategy.
A Master’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
10+ years of experience in software or DSP development and personnel management.
Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph clearance.
Background in design, development, test, and integration of rapid‑prototype software architectures.
Experience in cloud‑based Continuous Integration/Continuous Development pipelines.
Experience with source‑code analysis and resolution.
Experience with data analysis for trade‑space consideration of complex system designs.
Experience modeling data flows for complex integrated systems.
Background in real‑time software development for software‑based RF, Wireless, SIGINT, ELINT, and/or Electronic Warfare capabilities.
Background and working‑level knowledge of digital signal processing, waveform development, data analytics, software‑defined radios, and…
