Role Overview
Vantor seeks a cleared Full-Stack Software Developer to collaborate as part of a dynamic full technology stack engineering team working on a large-scale Government Geospatial Information software system, contributing to both operations and new development. The team is building a cloud-based collaborative geospatial mapping platform that leverages commercial technologies to meet the needs of our users. The role requires an engineer capable of working across various technical domains to support mission success.
Responsibilities- Research, evaluate, design, develop, implement, test, and improve existing software in collaboration with a team of software developers, software testers, system engineers, and Dev Ops engineers.
- Design and develop backend services (primarily Java, Node.js) optimized for UI performance and user experience, collaborating closely with UI/UX developers.
- Contribute to development efforts across the technology stack.
- Design and implement intuitive and effective user interfaces using modern JavaScript libraries and frameworks (e.g., D3.js, Leaflet, Open Layers, React/Angular/Vue).
- Champion and implement sound software development processes, emphasizing testing (unit, component, integration) and clear documentation.
- Analyze complex requirements and technical challenges, exercising judgment to select appropriate methods and techniques to develop robust solutions.
- U.S. Citizen with an active TS/SCI security clearance.
- Willing and able to obtain a Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph.
- Security+ Certification or ability to acquire Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical discipline plus 5+ years of relevant professional software development experience; or Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven experience developing both user interfaces and backend services.
- Willing and able to work onsite in Herndon, VA, and a portion of the time inside a SCIF.
- Experience building and consuming RESTful web services (Java and/or Node.js) and developing responsive user interfaces using modern web technologies (JavaScript ES6+, HTML5, CSS3).
- Proven ability to build UIs with modern JavaScript libraries, including D3.js and familiarity with mapping libraries (Leaflet, Open Layers).
- Experience with relational databases (Postgre
SQL strongly preferred), SQL, Git, Linux/Unix environments. - Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum and implementing software testing (unit, integration, component).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Extensive experience (6+ years) in JavaScript, UI/UX, and RESTful service development.
- Deep expertise in specific UI frameworks/libraries (React, Angular, Vue, advanced D3.js).
- Experience with Java Swing (if relevant for legacy components).
- Experience contributing to or managing Open-Source Software projects.
- Experience with C++ programming.
- Advanced knowledge of automated testing strategies and tools.
