Responsibilities- Guide adoption of Rust throughout embedded development.
- Manage integration or conversion of legacy software to Rust.
- Provide best practices and architectural guidance for memory‑safe Rust usage.
- Develop best practices and implementation guidance; translate requirements into working, maintainable solutions for C5 and Cyber Solution Centers.
- Apply technical proficiency across SDLC, gather requirements, prioritize, and scope tasks.
- Work as key team member on a Scrum team, setting product and infrastructure development strategy.
- Support engineering team members in embedded software development with Rust.
- Lead deployment of Rust and associated techniques, idioms, patterns, and tooling across multiple product lines.
- Apply computer science, engineering, and mathematics concepts to software development on target hardware.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional members to develop and evaluate hardware‑software interfaces and operational performance requirements.
- Participate in all phases of SDLC: requirements analysis, design, implementation, hardware‑software integration, formal test.
- Investigate root causes of complex issues and implement solutions independently or with a multi‑discipline team.
- Develop software test plans, procedures, and technical documentation.
- Use modeling tools to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests, prototype, and evaluate results.
- Participate in peer reviews, tracking and repairing defects.
- Utilize Rust, C/C++, and Python for embedded real‑time OS (VxWorks, Linux, Integrity).
- Travel >30% to other L3
Harris locations for onboarding, integration, or Scrum.
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of relevant experience; or Graduate Degree with 2 years; or 8 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
- Active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance.
- 1+ years of experience developing Rust software for production systems.
- Experience with C++ development and object‑oriented design.
- Experience with embedded systems development.
- Experience converting C/C++ code to Rust.
- Experience developing Rust software for embedded systems.
- Experience with UML tools like IBM Rhapsody or Magic Draw/Cameo.
- Experience developing device drivers and Board Support Packages for real‑time embedded systems.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience with Information Assurance and/or cryptography.
- Experience with NSA Type 1 certification or other software certification such as DO‑178.
- Salary range: $90,000 MIN – $220,000 MAX.
