Systems Development Engineer II, US Dedicated Cloud Security Engineering; AWS

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Security is searching for a proactive Sys Dev engineer to manage the operation of our physical access control system (PACS) and help automate a sustainable and robust architecture for future growth. The role focuses on ensuring the overall health and security of our critical service and delivering excellent customer service in a classified environment.

• Architect and implement enterprise‑scale security solutions from conception to production, including custom PACS integrations and security automation frameworks.
• Design and develop high‑availability distributed systems with an emphasis on security, scalability, and fault tolerance.
• Lead development of custom security tools and frameworks for system hardening, threat detection, and automated incident response.
• Architect and implement zero‑trust security models for critical infrastructure components.
• Design and build custom APIs and middleware solutions for security system integration.
• Develop advanced automation frameworks for infrastructure as code (IaC) deployment and configuration management.
• Create sophisticated monitoring and alerting systems using machine learning for anomaly detection.
• Implement cryptographic solutions for secure communication between distributed systems.
• Design and implement custom authentication and authorization protocols.
• Lead technical design reviews and security architecture assessments.
• Mentor junior engineers and establish technical best practices.

• Experience automating, deploying, and supporting large‑scale infrastructure.
• Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust.
• Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and build processes.
• Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph.

• Experience with distributed systems at scale.
• Familiarity with proprietary and commodity hardware integration using proprietary and open‑source protocols.
