System Development Engineer, Platform Engineering

Requirements

• Bachelors degree or CSSLP certification (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional)
• 2+ years of professional software development experience outside of internships
• 1+ years of experience designing or architecting new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling
• Understanding of systems engineering fundamentals, including networking, storage, and operating systems
• Experience programming in at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, Power Shell, or Ruby
• Active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility or higher
• Ability to obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph, or equivalent clearance, for the government agencies supported

Responsibilities:

• Design, deploy, monitor, and automate infrastructure, tools, and systems to deliver a highly available and resilient platform for our customers and our teams workloads
  - Support Wickr service operations as part of our Platform Engineering and Emerging Technologies team
  - Participate in on‑call coverage, typically one week in every six
  - Troubleshoot incidents quickly, work collaboratively to resolve root causes, and help prevent repeat pages

This role is based in Herndon, Virginia, with a posted salary range of USD 129,200 to 174,800 annually, plus sign‑on payments, restricted stock units, and a comprehensive benefits package including health coverage, retirement matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
