Experienced Firmware Engineer (Sr.) 7+ years of relevant firmware engineering experience Expertise in firmware engineering, VHDL (RTL), and System Verilog for testing Expertise in Digital Signal Processing (DSP), precision timing, optical communications/modems, and LIDAR
Experience with Xilinx, Microchip, and Lattice FPGAs and associated development tools Experience developing test benches and running simulations to exercise designs and verify compliance Experience interfacing and working with hardware designers during development, integration, and testing Experience using schematics and block diagrams as inputs for firmware design
Experience with high-speed serial links, including GTY/GTM, JESD
204B/C, Ethernet, and Space Wire Experience with standard peripheral interfaces, including SPI, I2C, UART, and LVDS Experience with memory interfaces, including DDR3/4, QDR, and FRAM Experience with Git Hub and CI/CD for FPGA development flows Experience with code reviews, automated linting, synthesis, regression testing, timing closure, bitstream generation, and release tagging Experience with Python for build/test automation and data analysis desired Experience with Linux, scripting, Docker containers, and automation desired Experience developing high-reliability/space programs and TMR coding desired Experience developing C and C++ code for microcontrollers desired Experience with VS Code desired Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required DUTIES:
Lead and contribute to firmware architecture and implementation for space-based electro-optical payloads and laser systems Perform the end-to-end firmware development lifecycle from requirements analysis through design, coding, simulation, verification, and validation Develop, integrate, and test firmware for space-based electro-optical systems Collaborate with hardware, systems, software, and optical engineers to define interfaces, resolve design issues, and ensure seamless system integration Participate in task-based iterative development cycles incorporating rapid feedback, frequent integration points, and incremental testing Conduct lab-based debugging, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and system-level validation using diagnostic tools and protocols Support peer code reviews, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement of firmware development processes and best practices Apply high-reliability and space-grade techniques, including fault tolerance and radiation mitigation Develop and execute test benches and simulations to verify firmware design compliance Interface with hardware designers throughout development, integration, and testing phases Contribute to technical documentation, design reviews, and risk identification throughout the product lifecycle Support the development of reliable firmware solutions for advanced electro-optical, laser, communications, and LIDAR systems Quadrant is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer.
