Job Overview

The Granite Technical Institute seeks a qualified and motivated Career and Technical Education (CTE) Pharmacy Technician Teacher to instruct the Pharmacy Technician course for the 2026–2027 school year. The instructor will teach the state‑approved curriculum and support students in mastering the skills needed for entry into employment, externships, and for passing the DOPL Pharmacy Technician licensure test.

Teaching Responsibilities
  • Teach the Pharmacy Technician course and optional concurrent enrollment courses.
  • Use laboratory equipment to apply concepts from the USBE’s CTE Core Curriculum.
  • Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and provide individualized and small‑group instruction.
  • Utilize computers and technological classroom support equipment.
  • Involve students in HOSA and prepare them for district, state, and national participation.
  • Support students in the DOPL licensing process and prepare them for industry externships.
  • Collaborate with industry partners to align instruction with workforce skill needs.
  • Use productivity‑enhancing hands‑on learning practices.
Essential Functions

Under the direction of the school principal, the classroom teacher is responsible for creating a positive learning environment that fosters critical thinking and lifelong learning. The teacher maintains a safe, orderly classroom, differentiates curriculum, and implements proficiency‑based grading.

  • Maintain safe, orderly classroom environment following all required safety procedures including HIPAA.
  • Teach core content areas outlined in the USBE’s Core Curriculum.
  • Accredit the Granite Technical Institute pharmacy technician training program with industry partners.
  • Employ effective teaching techniques and predict learning outcomes.
  • Utilize technology in student instruction.
  • Supervise students indoors and outdoors, regardless of weather.
  • Establish standards of student behavior and implement discipline strategies.
  • Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, maintain records, and prepare progress reports.
  • Implement proficiency‑based learning and the Granite Way.
  • Communicate with parents via conferences, calls, emails, planners, and the school website.
  • Collaborate with professional staff on student growth.
  • Maintain professional competence through in‑service education and self‑selected growth activities.
  • Administer attendance policies, standardized tests, and educator evaluation procedures.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and student activity sponsorship.
  • Requisition books and instructional materials; maintain inventory records.
  • Model professional and ethical standards, demonstrate positive role modeling.
Non‑Essential Functions

Qualifications
  • Valid Professional Educator License issued by the Utah State Board of Education with Secondary or CTE License Area of Concentration and a pharmacy technician endorsement.
  • Valid Associate Educator License issued by the Utah State Board of Education with Secondary or CTE License Area of Concentration and a pharmacy technician endorsement.
  • Equivalent license in another state with an endorsement comparable to a pharmacy technician endorsement.
  • Current Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist DOPL license.

Required Training and Education
  • USBE‑approved cleared criminal background check.

  • Valid Professional Educator License for Utah within the relevant licensure area of concentration and endorsement.
Physical Demands

The teacher must be able to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Reach with hands and arms, handle objects, talk, hear, and meet vision requirements. The role involves lifting up to 25 pounds routinely and up to 50 pounds occasionally.

  • Regular speaking/hearing, standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching.
  • Visually required: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception.
  • Frequently lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds. In some contexts, up to 50 pounds may be required.
