The Assistant Director of Campus Experience serves as a dynamic campus connector, cultivating vibrant, inclusive, and welcoming environments that promote connection, consistency, and belonging at their assigned SLCC campus.
Rooted in the pillars of Connection, Coordination, and Navigation, this role leads campus-based student success operations, strengthens cross-functional collaboration, and ensures services align with college wide goals in support of the Ideal Student Learning Experience.
The Assistant Director provides advanced leadership for the Navigation Hub, Faculty Support Center, and key campus operations, ensuring high-quality, consistent service that strengthens the overall campus experience. They exercise independent judgment in supervising staff, driving service improvements, and implementing college initiatives and service standards. Through strategic collaboration across departments and coordination with peer Assistant Directors, they support aligned practices, elevate instructional and operational readiness, and lead efforts that enhance the campus environment.
By proactively addressing emerging needs, using data to inform decisions, and fostering an inclusive culture, the Assistant Director helps create a campus where students, faculty, and staff feel supported, connected, and able to thrive.
In the Director’s absence, the Assistant Director acts on behalf of the Director within established protocols to ensure continuity of operations and standards.
The position requires consistent on-site presence, with occasional evening or weekend support for campus events and student-focused activities.
Essential Responsibilities Campus Leadership & Team Development- Lead daily campus operations that deliver a consistent, student-centered experience
- Build, coach, and support a cohesive team, including full-time and part-time staff in the Navigation Hub and Faculty Support Center
- Promote a welcoming and inclusive campus culture grounded in SLCC's mission and values
- Encourage continuous improvement by using service metrics, student and faculty feedback, and operational data
- Manage assigned budgets and contribute recommendations for resource allocation based on service metrics and campus needs
- Oversee Navigation Hub services to ensure students receive clear, timely, and accurate guidance with processes and systems
- Maintain consistent, high-quality service across in-person, phone, virtual, and email channels
- Ensure compliance and accuracy in One Card operations and cash-handling procedures
- Use trend data to recommend process, staffing, or scheduling adjustments to improve access and service outcomes.
- Partner with Student Affairs and Academic Affairs to resolve student concerns holistically
- Ensure faculty receive timely, reliable support with instructional needs, supplies, mail and printing services, and navigation of SLCC systems
- Supervise Faculty Support staff and maintain smooth daily operations
- Coordinate classroom access and basic instructional technology support with OIT and Scheduling
- Maintain well-organized spaces and consistent service standards across faculty support functions
- Use trend data to recommend process, staffing, or scheduling adjustments to improve access and service outcomes
- Coordinate logistics for campus events, room readiness, signage, and basic A/V support
- Submit and follow up on custodial, facilities, and IT work orders to maintain a welcoming campus environment
- Support general campus operations, posting compliance, and emergency procedures
- Collaborate with Facilities and Public Safety to ensure a clean, safe, accessible campus environment
- Work closely with peer Assistant Directors to align practices, share best practices, and strengthen consistency across campuses
- Co-lead cross-campus initiatives to standardize practices and implement shared service models
- Contribute to standard operating procedures, shared service models, and aligned workflows
- Participate in cross-functional college initiatives to enhance the overall campus experience for students and faculty
- Provide operational insights that inform departmental planning and decision-making
- Strengthen cross-institutional partnerships by maintaining clear, consistent communication and coordination with academic, administrative, and student affairs leaders across institutions.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to support seamless campus operations, aligned student services, and transfer-focused initiatives.
- Provide cross-institutional leadership that fosters a positive, collaborative culture among SLCC and university-partner faculty and staff.
- Support joint planning, programming, and communications, including transfer pathway initiatives and shared student success efforts, to enhance the overall student experience.
