Regional FSQA Manager – Food Manufacturing
Salt Lake City, UT with travel
$110,000 - $165,000
OverviewOversee food safety and quality systems across multiple food manufacturing sites, ensuring compliance with FDA, FSMA, and AAFCO standards while driving a strong food safety culture and providing technical leadership to plant-level FSQA teams.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure regional compliance with FSMA, HARPC, and AAFCO labeling/nutritional standards
- Standardize QMS across the region (EMP, SSOPs, GMPs)
- Lead third-party audit readiness (SQF/BRC/IFS) and regulatory inspections; run internal audits
- Manage supplier and raw material quality, with focus on rendering and ingredient safety
- Coach and lead Plant Quality Managers; build a proactive, "stop the line" culture
- Own RCA/CAPA for deviations, complaints, and potential recalls
- Oversee lab testing for physical, chemical, and microbiological parameters (Salmonella, mycotoxins, nutritional analysis)
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Animal Science, or related field preferred
- 7+ years FSQA experience in food manufacturing, incl. 3+ years multi-site/regional leadership
- PCQI and HACCP required; GFSI (SQF/BRC) practitioner status highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of pet food processing (extrusion, retort, or raw) and associated microbiological risks
- Able to translate technical requirements into frontline action; calm under pressure on holds/safety issues
- Up to 50% travel across the region
