Position Summary
Lee’s Marketplace is a family‑owned grocery chain that delivers an enjoyable shopping experience and outstanding service. The Dairy Manager oversees all aspects of the Dairy Department, including daily operations, inventory, merchandising and food safety, while driving sales and minimizing waste.
Primary Position Duties- Oversee daily operations of the dairy department: product ordering, receiving, stocking, rotation and merchandising to maximize sales and quality.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts, write‑offs, and markdowns. Monitor product dates and reduce shrink.
- Train, supervise and schedule dairy clerks to ensure efficient coverage and compliance with company standards.
- Deliver excellent customer service by answering questions, locating items, resolving concerns, and providing product recommendations.
- Ensure department cleanliness, temperature and sanitation guidelines are met and all health regulations complied with.
- Report inventory needs, maintenance issues and team performance concerns to store leadership and lead department or management meetings as needed.
- Greet customers warmly and assist with locating or learning about dairy products.
- Resolve complaints or product concerns promptly and professionally.
- Provide recommendations and product knowledge to enhance the shopping experience.
- Coordinate special orders with guests as needed.
- Maintain fully stocked and presentable shelves to support a positive guest impression.
- Maintain displays and verify date coding for freshness and proper rotation.
- Execute effective inventory control through accurate ordering and stocking.
- Record damaged product and handle returns or vendor credit.
- Ensure safe handling and cold‑chain compliance for all dairy products.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels through cycle counts and shrink control.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all safety and sanitation procedures.
- Report safety hazards or equipment issues to management.
- Serve as a role model for a clean and safe environment.
- Track daily, weekly and monthly sales against targets and identify improvement opportunities.
- Minimize product loss through proper rotation, handling and accurate inventory management.
- Create efficient schedules aligned with sales forecasts and labor budgets.
- Conduct inventory counts and maintain accurate records to control costs.
- Set and maintain appropriate pricing to ensure profitability.
- Order products strategically to meet demand while avoiding excess inventory.
- Review financial statements and make informed decisions.
- Assist in annual budget planning and expense management.
- Reconcile sales, shrink and waste reports regularly.
- Approve and oversee markdowns, discounts and promotions.
- Train staff on proper pricing and labeling procedures to maintain accuracy.
- Cooperate with team members to achieve store goals.
- Promote high morale through honest, open communication.
- Create a safe, clean and positive workplace culture.
- Encourage continuous learning and skill development.
- Coordinate with the Store Director for staff training.
- Lead training sessions and team meetings.
- Assist other departments when needed.
- Work efficiently in a fast‑paced sales environment with tact and patience.
- Ensure products are sold before their expiration date.
- Age 18 years or older.
- Availability 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. with required flexibility for evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Stand, walk, twist, sit and bend for extended periods.
- Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Handle small objects and operate equipment with manual dexterity.
- Perform repetitive arm movements (push, pull, reach, grip).
- Occasionally stoop, crouch, kneel or crawl.
- Operate step stools or ladders as required.
- Access and navigate all store areas.
