The In-House Packaging Designer is responsible for creating and executing packaging and merchandising design solutions within a high-volume CPG environment. This role focuses on packaging design, ensuring artwork is brand-focused, production-ready and delivered efficiently through established workflows. The ideal candidate has strong pre‑production knowledge, including experience preparing artwork for print, and is comfortable working independently while managing multiple concurrent projects in a fast‑paced, constant‑flow environment.
Key Responsibilities Packaging Design & Execution- Develop and implement design for packaging and merchandising deliverables.
- Translate existing design systems, VIS toolkits, and creative briefs into accurate, production-ready packaging layouts.
- Execute designs across multiple SKUs, pack types, and formats while maintaining brand consistency and visual quality.
- Prepare production-ready packaging artwork with an understanding of print requirements.
- Ensure files are accurate, well‑organized, and ready for downstream pre‑production and mechanical development with a pre‑press vendor.
- Support smooth handoffs to prepress and production partners by proactively identifying and resolving technical issues.
- Manage a steady volume of work and prioritize effectively across multiple concurrent projects (often up to ~10 at once) alongside the Sr. Design Manager and Traffic Coordinator.
- Maintain strong version control, file organization, and documentation to support efficient reviews and approvals.
- Identify risks related to timing, inputs, or clarity and escalate appropriately to keep work moving.
- Work closely with Design Managers and peer designers to ensure consistency and accuracy of brand visual strategies.
- Partner cross‑functionally with internal stakeholders and external partners as needed to meet project objectives and timelines.
- Contribute to improvements in tools, templates, and workflows that increase efficiency and consistency.
- Support capability building across the in‑house design team by sharing best practice and learnings.
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3–5 years of experience designing within a CPG packaging environment.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite with experience producing print‑ready packaging files.
- Working knowledge of pre‑production workflows and print considerations.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience working within structured packaging workflows and asset management systems.
- Familiarity with merchandising assets such as displays, trays, shippers, or labels.
- Experience supporting high‑SKU, high‑volume packaging programs.
- Candidates must provide a portfolio demonstrating CPG packaging work, including examples that show print‑ready execution, multi‑SKU adaptation, and attention to detail.
