Football, Varsity Head Coach - (  )

Milton Hershey School (MHS) is one of the world’s best pre-K through 12th grade private schools, where over 2,000 students from disadvantaged backgrounds are provided with a cost-free home, a top-notch education and access to exceptionally well-resourced athletic and other extra-curricular opportunities. Thanks to the generosity of Milton and Catherine Hershey in 1909, the school is fully endowed with the resources to ensure students thrive.

The school has prepared over 12,000 graduates to lead fulfilling and productive lives and is expanding to serve more students.

MHS is currently seeking a Head Varsity Football Coach to lead the school’s team and enrich the current program. The team competes in the Mid Penn Conference in PIAA District III (4A) against a mix of local public and private high schools. The team typically consists of approximately 80 athletes and a coaching staff of 10. The head football coach oversees the development of three teams within the program:

This is a part-time ancillary position with a season running from August to November, with practices Monday through Friday from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., and games are typically Fridays or Saturdays. Off-season work is necessary for this position. This position is paid a stipend for the season based on the candidate’s experience and hours fulfilled.

Additionally, there is an incentive for postseason pay if qualified for PIAA District/State playoffs.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring safety regulations and protocols are upheld, as well as compliance with all other relevant regulations.
  • Collaborating effectively with MHS departments such as Scholastics, Home Life, Admissions, Graduate Programs for Success (GPS), Middle Division, and more.
Qualifications
  • Five plus years of demonstrated successful elite level coaching experience at the high school or college level. Head coaching experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with fundamentals, strategy, PIAA rules, sportsmanship, and character development.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including an exceptional ability to inspire and lead, as well as effectively collaborate.
  • Driver’s license in good standing and MHS Van Driver Certification completion within 3 months of hiring.
  • Dedication to student success.
  • High degree of integrity as all MHS staff are role models for students.
  • Organization, time management skills, technology use (film, email, etc.).
  • Adherence to annual budget requirements.
  • Constant communication with Athletic Administration.
  • First Aid/CPR certification every two years
  • MHS Annual required training course completion
  • PIAA Fundamentals of Coaching course completion
  • Candidates for this position must come prepared with a comprehensive off-season skill development plan, including full-year training, budget needs, and middle school integration in development as well.
