Position Specifics
The Penn State College of Medicine seeks a creative anatomist educator at the rank of assistant professor, non‑tenure track, with opportunity for promotion. The position is located at the medical school’s central campus in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
As a member of the anatomy faculty, the successful candidate will teach gross anatomy and related coursework to Medical Students, Physician Assistant (PA) students, Anatomy PhD students, and Residents, and will have additional opportunities to teach other learners.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and run an innovative clinical anatomy curriculum for PA students.
- Organize and lead PA program anatomy and run gross anatomy labs with the help of anatomy graduate students.
- Design, administer, and score PA anatomy exams.
- Teach lectures, coordinating with graduate anatomy students who function as TAs.
- Work with senior anatomy faculty to prepare graduate students for teaching PA anatomy lectures and labs.
- Collaborate with faculty from the Human Structure (Anatomy) team on teaching ultrasound, embryology, histology, and integrated science sessions.
- Participate in designing interdisciplinary musculoskeletal and neuroscience anatomy electives.
- Ph.D. or equivalent in Anatomy or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience including full human dissection.
- Experience teaching embryology and histology is a plus.
This position requires PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
