Adjunct Associate Professor – Doctor of Public Health Program
The Department of Public Health Sciences (PHS) at the Penn State College of Medicine invites applications for a Part-time Associate Professor position to provide leadership for the Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) program and support research activities within the department.
The mission of PHS is to advance health through the design, conduct, and analysis of population-based biomedical research, the support of basic science and clinical research, the education of future generations of health professionals, and active engagement with the community to improve health and well-being. PHS comprises three academic divisions:
Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, Epidemiology, and Health Services and Behavioral Research. The department offers graduate programs including the PhD in Epidemiology, PhD in Biostatistics, Doctor of Public Health (DrPH), Master of Public Health (MPH), Master of Science (MS) in Clinical Research, and Master of Professional Studies in Homeland Security with an option in Public Health Preparedness, as well as several graduate certificate programs.
The successful candidate will provide leadership and oversight for the DrPH program, working collaboratively with PHS leadership, faculty, students, and education staff to support program quality, student success, and continued program development. Responsibilities will include coordinating program activities; supporting student recruitment, progression, and engagement; contributing to curriculum and program planning; monitoring program outcomes and assessment; supporting accreditation activities; and identifying opportunities to strengthen the DrPH program and student experience.
The position will also contribute to research activities within PHS, including participation in collaborative research projects and initiatives aligned with the department's mission and areas of expertise. Candidates with experience in public health practice, higher education, program leadership, research, government, healthcare, nonprofit organizations, or related settings are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate should possess a doctoral degree in public health or a related discipline and demonstrate experience leading or managing an academic, professional, or public health program. Strong organizational, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are required. Experience with program assessment, accreditation, graduate education, or public health research is preferred.
The Penn State College of Medicine is located in Hershey, PA, near the state capital of Harrisburg, with convenient access to major metropolitan areas including Philadelphia, Baltimore, New York City, Washington, DC, and Pittsburgh. Harrisburg International Airport and AMTRAK are less than ten miles away.
