Job Description and Position Requirements
The Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing is looking for a Part‑time Research Assistant (RA) for a National Institutes of Health (NIH) Study on Delirium in Hospitalized Older Adults. This implementation study investigates the use of a twice daily nurse‑led 2‑step delirium identification screening. The project is being implemented in three communities in PA and MA. Funding is based at University Park, PA, and some RAs may need to travel to Hershey for data collection or be located in Hershey.
Work is primarily in person at Mount Nittany Medical Center and Hershey Medical Center/Penn State Health. Approximately 10‑20 hours per week.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Assist with in‑person recruiting, consenting, and screening research participants, clinical research procedures, and medical record reviews.
- Conduct inter‑rater reliability checks.
- Assist with data entry, data management, and maintaining data protection and quality.
- May assist with literature search and other research work assigned.
- Attend and contribute to scheduled team meetings.
- Assist with marketing and communication where needed.
- Other duties as needed to carry out study procedures.
- Must have completed the COVID‑19 vaccination and other requirements by clinical research sites at least 2 weeks prior to employment.
- Must be a team player able to collaborate with faculty and all research team members, while also able to work independently to meet project deadlines.
- Strong professional and interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, are required.
- Preference may be given to individuals specializing in healthcare or related fields who have experience working with older adults with cognitive impairment or delirium.

21. $18.00 – $27.00 per hour depending on experience.
