SUMMARY OF POSITION

Serves each patient with the highest quality scheduling experience in every interaction every day. Responsible for the scheduling of patient visits, pre-operative and/or diagnostic tests, and procedures for assigned area of responsibility. Supports the scheduling staff with guidance in day to day questions and scheduling concerns. Provides coaching and training of staff and input into new processes. Assists with the interview process, staff scheduling, and disciplinary issues as necessary.

ESSENTIAL

DUTIES

The percentage of time spent performing essential functions is 95%. Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

  • Surgical Scheduling including surgical cases, endoscopy, pain management and infusions done in our OISU unit, this also includes any necessary follow up with the surgeons office that may be needed. This includes scheduling cases within defined parameters and block time.
  • Training new schedulers has been an on- going job responsibility of this role, which includes two new schedulers to PSHSJ. Ensuring new schedulers have the necessary resources for successful scheduling of surgical cases. This includes updating resources as needed.
  • Assist OR Business Manager with surgical charge capture and follow through. Review implants from surgical cases and correspond with surgical staff when errors are found. Constant communication with Billing to appropriate bill patients for surgical procedures.
  • Working effortlessly to ensure a smooth flow to the OR and cases are scheduled accurately and appropriately. Which includes a large amount of correspondence and communication with surgical offices. Daily oversight of surgical schedule and adjustments to best meet the needs of the OR.
  • Cover OR Desk as need arrives which includes coordinating all activities of the OR desk.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S)
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent experience (2 years)
  • Five (5) years medical scheduling experience and background with two (2) of those years having experience within the surgical arena.
  • Experience with training and direct employee oversight.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S)
  • Past supervisory experience within the medical field preferred.
  • Surgical charge experience and proven track record of coordinating surgical schedules preferred.
