Shift schedule: 12‑hour shifts (7 am–7 pm and 7 pm–7 am). 7 days in a two‑week pay period with every other weekend a 3‑day weekend. Rotates between night shift and day shift every two months.
JOB SUMMARYDispatchers will be responsible for functioning as the main operator of the command/operations center. The Security Operations Center serves as a hub for calls for security assistance, radio dispatch, access control operations, e911 emergency application, radiation monitoring systems, and video surveillance. The dispatcher operates the computer aided dispatching (CAD) system and records incident reports.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSHigh School diploma with 1 year of job‑related experience or a combination of equivalent education and experience. New hires must complete the IAHSS Basic Certification within 6 months; current employees must complete it within 12 months and maintain certification with recertification at the Basic Level or higher every 5 years.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES- Working knowledge of police, fire and medical protocols
- Interpersonal skills and good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain employee and patient confidentiality
- Advanced computer skills and ability to use electronic equipment
- Ability to work with limited supervision
- Ability to work well under pressure while relating to staff and customers
- Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks, issues, and assignments with varying degrees of priority
- Manual dexterity adequate for utilizing a computer keyboard
- Ability to adapt to simultaneous, multiple and varied stimuli
- Near visual acuity for deciphering fine print, viewing computer screens, and distinguishing color, sizes, and shapes
- Demonstration of dependability, including attendance and punctuality
- Professional demeanor
- Experience in security, law enforcement, communications, or dispatching
- Previous customer service experience
- Advanced understanding of complex security access control and surveillance systems
- Previous healthcare experience
- Understanding of and experience with Act 235
