SummaryThis Union plant, producing White & Dark Paste, Kisses, Nuggets, Milk Bars, Almond Bars, Rolo & Syrup, operates in a high‑speed complex environment. As a Quality Assurance Specialist, you will serve as a liaison between QA and Manufacturing. Your responsibilities include directing and overseeing the activities of hourly production personnel, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory policies, maintaining Global Food Safety Initiative certification, and providing technical support to manufacturing and engineering.
The role is plantwide, covering facility sanitation, MCT, and weekend crews, and involves laboratory duties.
- Compliance: Facilitate production activities to meet quality/safety specifications and regulatory standards through auditing, troubleshooting, and incident management.
- Incident Management: Investigate and analyze incidents to identify trends, initiate corrective actions, and communicate findings. Use systems such as SAP, LPR, QIMS, and others to isolate and solve problems.
- Supervision: Coordinate and administer daily tasks for the Sanitation Business Unit, ensuring compliance with safety, sanitation, GMP, training, and plant programs. Schedule labor staffing, maintain administrative and reporting procedures, and communicate with direct reports and peers.
- Inspecting: Conduct inspections in accordance with Product Excellence Program (PEP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) compliance procedures.
- HACCP & Continuous Improvement: Conduct regular internal audits that include HACCP and PEP elements, document and report findings, follow up on non‑conformances, and support Lean Manufacturing programs. Lead verification and validation activities for PEP and Global Food Safety Initiative compliance.

- Understanding of sanitation and pest control practices
- Familiarity with Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards
- Strong computer, document management skills, and attention to detail
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Familiarity with Environmental Microbiological Monitoring Program
- Ability to record data as needed
- Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills
- Solid understanding of a production / manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and chemical application in a food environment
- Strong auditing and assessment skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP, Net Weight, and QIMS
- Working knowledge of regulatory and quality system requirements – food safety, Hershey’s PEP, HACCP, GMP, etc.
Education: B.S. in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field, or equivalent related experience.
Experience: 0–3 years of related experience (3 years preferred). Prior leadership experience is preferred.
