Post Doctoral Scholar
The laboratory of Dr. Sara Stahley in The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Dermatology, is seeking a full-time Post Doctoral Scholar to work on campus in Hershey, PA.
Using the skin as a model system, research in the Stahley Lab focuses on understanding the cell-cell interactions that establish collective cell polarity. The successful applicant will be expected to employ cell and molecular biology techniques to carry out experiments investigating cell adhesion and cell polarity through in vitro and in vivo approaches. Demonstrated experience in mammalian cell culture, basic cell/molecular biology techniques and fluorescence microscopy are strongly preferred.
Experience with mouse handling, tissue dissections and mouse genetics are also desirable.
Responsibilities:
- Independently drive assigned projects and related experiments
- Seek out new resources and learn new techniques as warranted
- Present scientific work at lab meetings, local seminars, and international conferences
- Draft scientific manuscripts of completed work for publication
- Contribute to overall lab environment and participate in lab discussions
- Train new graduate students and other lab personnel
- Assure research is carried out in compliance with local policies and safety guidelines
Qualifications:
A PhD in the Biomedical Sciences or related discipline by appointment start date
