The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Public Health Sciences, is seeking a Part‑time Research Assistant for a Summer Internship focusing on AI/ML and Clinical Informatics Research for Ischemic Stroke. This interdisciplinary role involves analyzing data from Electronic Health Records (EHR) and public sources, applying machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques, and interpreting findings to identify and bridge care gaps in cardiovascular and cerebrovascular conditions.

Interns will collaborate with experts in AI, clinical informatics, and neurology, reporting to Dr. Abedi (Department of Public Health Sciences) and co‑mentored by Dr. Zand (Department of Neurology). The experience provides hands‑on research exposure and contributes to meaningful advancements in healthcare outcomes.

• Conduct data analysis and interpret findings related to ischemic stroke and associated factors.
• Apply machine learning and AI methodologies to support research objectives.
• Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary and agile team.
• Prepare reports and present results to the research team.

• Graduate student in a relevant field (e.g., public health, biomedical informatics, computer science).
• Some research experience and a fast learner.
• Strong interest in collaborative work within an interdisciplinary setting.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
