Overview
Dining Room Worker, Part-Time ) – Milton Hershey School (MHS) invites applications for a part-time Dining Room Worker (DRW) for the Middle School Cafeteria. This position is responsible for assisting in preparing, servicing, portioning, and monitoring cafeteria meals for staff and students. Additional duties include assisting in the set up and monitoring of tables, service areas and dishwashing, cleaning up the dining room and Food Service facilities after meals, preparing and servicing a variety of catered events, and performing other duties as assigned.
The DRW may work catering functions prior to and/or beyond the normal regular work/shift schedule (plus shift differential).
The standard work schedule is a 10-month flex schedule, Monday through Friday up to 29 hours per week. Flexibility with the schedule is essential to meet the needs of the school (earlier starts, occasional weekends and evenings for catering). A 10-month schedule typically includes summer and school breaks off.
Responsibilities- Assist in preparing, servicing, portioning, and monitoring school cafeteria meals for staff and students.
- Assist in the set up and monitoring of tables, service areas and dishwashing.
- Clean up the dining room and Food Service facilities after meals are served.
- Prepare and service a variety of catered events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- May work catering functions prior to and/or beyond the normal shift schedule (plus shift differential).
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Prior food services, kitchen, catering or customer service experience preferred.
- Experience in Safe Food handling practices preferred.
- Valid NSF Serv Safe Certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
- Ability to operate and care for institutional large kitchen equipment (convection ovens, dishwashers, and other kitchen utilities).
- Physically capable of lifting and/or carrying up to 50+ pounds on a frequent basis.
- Ability to respond to customer service-related issues in a professional manner.
- Ability to communicate and interact with students and adults in a diverse and multicultural professional environment.
- Candidates must demonstrate a high degree of integrity as all MHS Staff are role models for MHS students.
- Candidates must be willing to actively engage with MHS students beyond the scope of their job responsibilities.
