Lab Coordinator - Neuroscience and Experimental Therapeutics

Position Overview

The Center for Cannabinoids and Natural Product Pharmaceutics (CCNPP) and the Department of Neuroscience and Experimental Therapeutics (NET) are hiring a Lab Coordinator Supervisor to assist with laboratory administrative and research projects. The role will coordinate laboratory and safety operations within NET and CCNPP, serve as the department’s laboratory safety officer, and manage inventory, operations, vendor relationships, and equipment support. The position is funded for 1 year;

continuation depends on university need, performance, and availability of funding.

• Coordinate laboratory and safety operations, acting as the department’s laboratory safety officer.
• Ensure labs are maintained and operated in compliance with safety regulations and environmental health requirements.
• Manage inventory, vendor relationships, and laboratory operations, including supervision of the supercritical CO2 extractor for preparing botanical extracts.
• Assist with the preparation of DOMA, MJ FREEWAY, IRB, IND, and IACUC protocols, and data management.
• For NET: maintain department administration of laboratory equipment, assist with the annual indirect cost recovery survey and walkthrough, submit equipment work orders, manage inventory maintenance, repair, and storage, oversee equipment budget management, assist with autoclaving, manage biohazardous waste disposal, chemical disposal, and miscellaneous administrative work.
• For CCNPP: supervise and instruct part‑time and/or student workers; engage in basic science research around cannabis and natural products, supercritical CO2 extraction, cell culture experiments, and animal studies; assist with grant preparation, annual reports, manuscripts; coordinate clinical trial organization, data analysis; ensure compliance with government agencies; coordinate with research sponsors; organize retreats, meetings, workshops; maintain the CCNPP website.

Must hold a Bachelor’s degree and possess 3+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Mandatory knowledge of supercritical CO2 extraction, basic science lab experience (cell culture and animal work), and organizational management is preferred. Certificates in DOMA and MJ FREEWAY are advantageous.
