Highways Operative – 156296

To carry out general maintenance works and operations, working with a Chargehand, undertaking a wide range of routine and cyclical works. To respond to emergencies and call outs during or out of hours on rotas as required and assist with winter maintenance activities as a second man or driver’s mate. Includes apprentices who have fully completed training.

• Manual Handling
• Abrasive Wheels
• Emergency First Aid
• Safe Dig
• Current Driving License
• CSCS card (if client requirement)
• Minimum level of everyday behaviour as set out in the company behaviours matrix

• Wide range of generalist skills
• Understanding and using risk assessments and safe systems of work
• Ability to understand and carry out work as set out in a specification
• 12+ months experience
• Potential & interest in obtaining LGV licence
• Training in general health & safety awareness, risk assessment awareness, traffic management, use of PDA (as required)
• Ability to use small plant and equipment
• Ability to operate mini excavator

• Team player, prepared to contribute and participate fully in team work
• Prepared to work varying hours to meet business needs
• Willingness to apply skills to a variety of highways jobs, with changing team members
• Prepared to develop and undertake relevant training and qualifications
• Ability to complete record sheets, paper or electronic
• Responsibility for plant and equipment
• Use of own initiative
• Responsibility for own safety and that of others
• Availability for emergency and/or winter call outs

Full Time – 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday
