The Department of Public Health (DPH), Clinic Operations is now hiring for an Assistant Clinic Unit Manager. This position will work closely with the Clinic Unit Manager by assisting with the supervision of staff at assigned Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) and Public Health Clinics. This recruitment will be used to fill a vacancy for a High Desert position located at the Hesperia Public Health Clinic.
Dutiesinclude but are not limited to:
- Supervise and direct the work of Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses, Medical Assistants assigned to the Clinics.
- Ensures smooth workflow for patient service delivery; establish work, priorities, deadlines, and performance standards for clinical support staff.
- Under direction of the Clinic Unit Manger assists with the development of goals and objectives for performance improvement and quality management activities.
- Assist in leading the development and implementation of orientation programs, in-services, and education programs for clinical support staff in collaboration with Nurse Educators.
- Assist with work performance evaluations; disciplinary actions and hiring.
- Prepares schedules and oversees with payroll time and attendance processing which includes approving time off.
- Assist with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care by assuring assignments are made on the basis of knowledge, skills and competency level with consideration for the needs of each patient.
- Assist in the development and implementation of continuous patient experience improvement efforts.
- Perform professional nursing duties as needed.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENTPre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation which includes verification of employment history and education, fingerprinting, physical exam, and drug screening.
Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require Visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future. Candidates must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment.
Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required and employees will be required to make provisions for such transportation.
License: Must possess and maintain a current license as a Registered Nurse with the State of California Board of Registered Nursing.
Certification: Must possess and maintain a current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Experience: Two (2) years as an Registered Nurse in an outpatient primary care, ambulatory or clinic setting. The ideal candidate will have at least three (3) years of Charge Nurse or Lead experience in outpatient primary care, ambulatory or clinic setting. A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Management or related field is highly desired.
