This position is for a Commercial Driver (Passenger) responsible for the safe and courteous transportation of passengers, including those with disabilities. The driver will operate company vehicles, conduct pre‑trip inspections, and maintain accurate documentation of all trips.
Pay Rate: $21.91 with annual increases
Locations: Hesperia or Barstow (flexible)
Responsibilities- Punctuality and professionalism at all times
- Be neatly groomed and uniformed
- Perform vehicle Pre‑Trip Inspection and complete the accompanying report
- Report any corrections to Dispatch or the Maintenance Supervisor
- Operate the vehicle safely, courteously, and within all posted speed limits and traffic laws
- Report any changes in the driving record immediately upon change
- Document all times, passenger counts, incidents, or any other requested information
- Assist passengers with luggage, carriages, and other bulky items to ensure safe transport
- Assist ADA passengers to ensure safe transport
- Follow all safety requirements as instructed by the safety manager
- Other duties as required
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Verifiable Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a Passenger Endorsement
- 3 years of driving experience required (5 years preferred), verifiable through DMV records
- Must pass a federal background check, including a lifetime search and fingerprint verification by State Police
- Must pass a pre‑employment drug test and DOT physical
- Customer service experience is a plus
- High degree of comfort working with people with disabilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication and decision‑making skills
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Long periods of walking, standing, sitting, bending, pushing, pulling, climbing, lifting, balancing, stooping, twisting, and squatting
- Exposure to extreme heat and cold, loud noises, fumes, airborne particles, and uneven surfaces
- Drivers may operate vehicles for over 8 hours per day; supervisors may split time between office and transit field locations
- Maintenance employees may engage with chemicals, heavy machinery, and electronic diagnostics
- Office staff may work in office environments with computer screens and telephones
Drug Screening: Employment for safety‑sensitive positions is contingent upon passing a pre‑employment drug screen and a physical examination. A drug‑free workplace is maintained.
