Position Overview
As part of the BIMC Mfg Engineering team, the CAD Drafter will be responsible for daily maintenance of CNC plot files, temporary plots for accessory orders, and creation of new plot files for product integrations across the Sea Ray, Navan, and Trophy brands.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Maintain CNC plot files for wood routers, glass cutters, and fabric cutters.
- Update plot files as needed for DFM, quality, and efficiency improvements.
- Create new plot files using provided DXF files and print documentation.
- Nest patterns on 4×8 sheets in spreadsheets to minimize material usage.
- Support accessory order requests and re‑cut plot files for production.
- Maintain Excel bill of materials for sheet and rolled goods.
- Produce accurate, concise documentation that meets engineering and business standards.
- Assist with implementation and status tracking of all ECN’s.
- Willing to take on tasks outside the core job description to meet department goals.
- Manage time daily and weekly to prioritize business needs.
- Complete scheduled documentation tasks on time.
- High‑school education or equivalent.
- Computer‑Aided Design (CAD) experience required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience maintaining organized files within a Microsoft operating system.
- Ability to use small hand tools, both electrical and air‑powered.
- Excellent time‑management skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to handle multiple projects efficiently and effectively.
- Associate’s Degree in CAD Drafting, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 3‑D solid and surface modeling skills desirable.
- Knowledge of production areas and product line preferred.
- Understanding of the boat‑building process preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills preferred.
- Willing to work overtime as required.
- Ability to climb in and out of boats using a step ladder.
