General FunctionThe Youth FORCE Program Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging academic and enrichment experiences that align with the Youth FORCE program’s Positive Youth Development (PYD) goals. This role supports middle school youth by improving academic achievement, fostering positive decision-making skills, and promoting resilience. The Teacher will design and implement lessons in reading, math, science, and social skills, facilitate project-based learning, and provide targeted academic support to help members achieve success in school and beyond.
Responsibilities- Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment for middle school youth.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with members to encourage motivation and participation.
- Monitor academic progress and adjust instructional strategies to support student success.
- Provide mentorship to enhance students’ confidence, resilience, and goal-setting abilities.
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with Youth FORCE academic and PYD objectives.
- Deliver small-group and individualized instruction to support academic growth.
- Integrate project-based learning, STEM activities, literacy promotion, and life skills into lessons.
- Support implementation of the Wyman Teen Outreach Program TOP curriculum.
- Collaborate with the Success Coach to align academic instruction with Individualized Service Plans (ISPs).
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
- Provide homework assistance and academic enrichment during the school year and summer.
- Participate in regular staff meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions.
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Youth Development, or a related field required. Current, expired, or temporary State of Florida teaching certificate required. Minimum one year of teaching experience.
Physical and Mental Requirements- Ability to stand, walk, and actively engage with students for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move educational materials and supplies (up to 25 lbs).
- Capable of participating in physical activities, including outdoor recreation and movement-based learning.
- Adequate vision and hearing to supervise and interact with students effectively.
- Patience and emotional resilience to support students with diverse learning and behavioral needs.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Ability to remain calm and manage classroom disruptions effectively.
- High level of enthusiasm, energy, and passion for working with youth.
- Improved academic performance and engagement among members through targeted instruction.
- Increased youth resilience and positive decision-making skills.
- Greater participation in project-based and enrichment activities that promote school success.
- Stronger collaboration between staff, families, and community partners to support holistic youth development.
- Documented progress in literacy, STEM, and life skills, tracked through program assessments.
School Year:
Monday-Thursday: 3:30pm-6:30pm
Summer:
Monday-Thursday: 8am-4:30pm
