CADD Technician II, Land Development​/Public Works

Job Overview

Halff Associates has an opening for a Land Development/Public Works Civil CAD Technician in our Tavares, FL office.

• Make decisions regarding design suitability using knowledge of specified product materials, recognized industry standards, and construction practices.
• Recommend and implement design changes to resolve field problems and may require field verification work.
• Work independently to create base maps, drawings and designs for land development projects, including drawing setup for preliminary and construction plan sets, sheet layout, model space and paper space setup, manage xrefs, incorporate redlines and design provided by the Project Manager.
• Create preliminary and construction plan sets including horizontal control, grading and drainage, erosion control plans, utility and roadway profiles and cross‑sections, topographic maps, design details and notes.
• Assist with engineering projects such as roadway, highway, airport, utility, land development, landfill and site development.
• Adhere to project deadlines and keep supervising staff informed of any difficulties encountered on assignments.
• Execute and adhere to quality assurance requirements.
• Assist in training and supervision of CAD and graphics personnel.
• Assist in maintaining CAD standards.
• Responsible for quality assurance and quality control of graphics and CAD engineering plans.
• Maintain technical knowledge with regard to computers, software, and design techniques.
• Learn and adapt to new programs and adjust to changes in product and client demands.
• Collaborate remotely with colleagues in other offices.
• Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to engineers, clients, and public stakeholders.
• Interest in experiencing a variety of assignments is important.

• Minimum of 2+ years progressive CAD design experience in the civil engineering field.
• Professional experience is encouraged.
• Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD (Civil3D) and other related design software; GIS considered a plus.
• Knowledge of municipal and state design standards and codes, including ADA compliance design standards.
• Thorough knowledge and accurate use of civil drafting techniques, computer operations, and civil engineering practices.
• Knowledge of terminology, techniques and practices used in various types of construction relating to land development, including the ability to develop, read, and interpret engineering plans and specifications.
