Job Description:
- The Phlebotomist II Float serves as the face of the organization to patients and is responsible for performing blood specimen collection and processing in a safe, accurate, and professional manner.
- This role creates a positive patient experience by building trust, explaining procedures clearly, and maintaining confidentiality.
- The position may support a doctor s office, patient service center, or multiple locations based on business needs.
- Perform daily phlebotomy activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment at all times.
- Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing according to established procedures.
- Verify patient demographic information and obtain patient initials or signature following venipuncture to ensure proper specimen labeling.
- Prepare specimens for laboratory testing following standard protocols.
- Maintain accurate records and required documentation.
- Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
- Provide patient-focused care while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.
- Support multiple locations as required by business needs.
- Ability to provide high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
- Strong phlebotomy skills including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Flexible availability including weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call coverage.
- Reliable transportation with a valid driver s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to travel and cover multiple locations with minimal notice.
- Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
- Three years of phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Minimum of two years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
- Customer service experience preferred.
- Keyboard and data entry experience required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred and required in certain states.
