Job Profile:
Business Intelligence Engineer III

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This role provides centralized support across Blue Origin business unit teams, functions, and locations.

As a Business Intelligence Engineer III on the SFB Data Analytics & Technology team, you will be a strong individual contributor who leads your own analytics and data solution projects across the ORBIT platform and other emerging SFB initiatives. Your work will center on designing KPI frameworks, architecting dimensional models and semantic layers, and delivering insight-driven solutions that translate complex business data into clear, actionable intelligence.

You will work deeply with Databricks and Blue Origin's broader data ecosystem, building robust data pipelines and integrating with enterprise APIs to power the analytics experiences that leadership depends on. You will collaborate closely with business leaders, data owners, operations and finance stakeholders throughout Blue Origin to structure ambiguous problems and deliver scalable transformative solutions that directly support decision‑making at the highest levels of the company.

Your day‑to‑day activities will include designing and optimizing complex SQL and semantic layers, architecting dimensional models and data marts, implementing data quality checks and pipeline observability, and building parameterized BI assets tuned for performance. You will prototype custom visualizations using lightweight web components and SDKs, and develop persona‑tailored data stories with cross‑domain context and well‑defined metrics.

You will leverage AI‑powered development tools to accelerate delivery while critically evaluating outputs for analytical rigor, architectural fit, and long‑term maintainability. Working in a fast‑paced, highly responsive environment, you will lead the translation of complex, multi‑variable business requirements into scalable BI solutions through structured problem scoping, root cause analysis, and proactive stakeholder engagement.

Position offers long‑term opportunity as the SFB Data Analytics & Technology team scales its analytics impact beyond ORBIT into new domains supporting Operations and SFB. You will gain broad exposure to business operations, finance, and strategy across the company, deepen your data engineering and BI architecture expertise, and work on solutions that directly influence how Blue Origin measures and runs the business.

You will lead your own projects with autonomy and impact, collaborate effectively across the organization, and develop the technical depth and cross‑functional influence that defines a strong BI engineering career.

We are looking for someone to apply their analytical depth, technical expertise, and collaborative mindset to drive meaningful impact across our Operations and SFB organizations. Passion for our mission and vision is required.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Leading end‑to‑end development and enhancement of the ORBIT KPI visualization platform
  • Driving rapid development of BI solutions for the SFB organization, from requirements through delivery
  • Designing and maintaining semantic layers, dimensional models, and data marts in Databricks
  • Implementing data quality checks, pipeline observability, and storage/compute optimization
  • Developing and maintaining robust Python packages with CI/CD and data validation
  • Writing and optimizing complex SQL for analytics and reporting use cases
  • Designing KPI frameworks and performing root cause analysis and scenario modeling with business stakeholders
  • Prototyping custom application visualizations using lightweight web components (e.g., Git Lab Pages, Streamlit, other lightweight app framework)
  • Leading requirements development and problem scoping across Operations…
